A whole new look on things.

Stever Robbins wrote an excellent article about identifying why you made the choices you did this election and using that to improve your decision-making and overall way of thinking. Come back to it in 4 years and see which fears were warranted and which hopes were exceeded.

A funny thing happened to me on the way…

It’s not funny because it shows the extent to which people will hold beliefs without reason to hold it, but here is my story:

I was walking down the hallway today at work and came across this guy that works here in another department who is very friendly and most people like him a lot.  The conversation veered to politics.  He is a die-hard Democrat and I’m a far-right Conservative.

The conversation lasted only about 5 minutes but in that time the following things were said:
Republicans are warmongers.
Bush lied and all our children are dying because of it.
He (President Bush) has set women’s rights and civil rights back 20 years.
Conspiracy theory!  That’s just like Republicans!

The Ultimate…

It’s the ultimate “new perspective.”  The one brought about by a sudden realization of our own mortality.  The realization that bad things don’t always happen to “someone else” but, as Harold S. Are You a Joiner?

What’s a ‘joiner’? It’s a person that jumps in and joins whatever is going on. You walk by people talking about the precise color of used motor oil and you just -have- to put your 2 cents worth in on the topic if you are a joiner.

I was faced with an opportunity to be a joiner just the other day (at least the time I’m referring to here. lol) Two of my friends and brothers were practically arguing about bio-fuel and was it truly a worthwhile change for US drivers. You can imagine, it’s a hot topic and there are plenty of suppositions about neo-pagan tree huggers, big oil companies, that good for nothing _government official_, etc. I was blessed with the sentence that ended the whole thing. I said “You know what the best thing is? God’s still in control and we’ll be taken care of no matter what… that’s so great!”
